Day 1 - Evening, Juice-Feast CHALLENGE

Wowie! The end of day 1. :)

Some, may already be feeling some changes. Your body many already be detoxing, your mind may be having a hard time with the fact that you really aren't going to starve to death.

If you had some trouble sticking to the 100% juicing then celebrate what you were able to accomplish!! This is for you!

Keep up with water! This is a great resource and avenue to help you move through a detox and to keep hydrated, etc.

- (10) stalks of celery - I used (1) whole bunch
- (2) cucu
mbers
- (4) big pieces of kale (kale can taste VERY earthy) - I used 2 leaves because they were BIG LEAVES!
- (2) green apples
- (3) small green apples
- big bunch of parsley
- I added (1) lime because it was very sad looking and about to turn. Now it's happy.

TIP: Don't let yourself get too hungry!

Hi all,

When you are juicing - have an extra juice on hand in case you panic. This is totally possible. The mind can make you think that you are about to start to death or something wacky like that. Make an extra pint-sized juice to always have on hand in case your tummy is freaking or your head is. also the Kombucha is nice to have on hand but only if you like it...many don't for one reason or another.

3 recipes - 4 Quarts? - Day 1 Juice-Feast Challenge Question

Hi all,

I am posting three recipes for you daily. HOWEVER, this is a FEAST and it is recommended to have four quarts of juice daily.

Depending on what kind of juicer you are using or however you might be blending the contents and using a nut-milk bag to secure the fiber - the amount of juice produced will be different.

So, you may want to double the lunch recipe or the dinner recipe. During my 33-day juice feast I kinda didn't follow the four-quarts rule and found myself only able to drink 3 quarts, plus water throughout the day. I also like Kombuchas and they are a tasty treat that are raw and fit well within the guidelines of our challenge.

Today, I need to return to the store. I didn't get enough cucumbers!! You may find yourself running back and forth for a few items as well. By the end of 7-days you could easily be an expert. Possibly, you will juice for 14-days and experiment with the recipes or have one juice every morning to start your day?

Also, I am posting this again:

A HUGE reminder that I forgot to review: "Chew" the juice. This means to let the juice sit in your mouth a bit as if you were chewing food. This allows your saliva to come into the mix which is very important. If you "chug" it you might get nauseous because it is so packed full of good nutrients and enzymes. So, CHEW your juice.

Day 1 - Lunch - juice-feast CHALLENGE! June 1st, 09

Day 1 - Lunch / Afternoon Juice

Remember, make the juice taste good to you! If you need an extra carrot then add one or two.

I put a variety of juices in this week to give you a great opportunity to experience how tasty this can be.

Do you already feel like you are doing something really great for yourself? If not, consider that you are and make your juice with love.

- (6) carro
ts
- (1/2) bunch of celery

- (2) cucumbers
- (1) apple
- I did (2) small green apples because they were on sale.
- (1) lemon
- (1) pinch of Himalayan pink salt.

Day 1 - Morning - juice-feast CHALLENGE! June 1st, 09

Good morning to you all! :)

This is a picture of the juice this morning.

It is very green and green tasting.

- (3) cucumbers, I used (4) because they were super small cucumbers.
- (3) carrots
- (1/2) bunch of celery
- a little bunch of parsley

Day 1 & 2 Recipes for 7-day Juice-FEAST CHALLENGE!

A note on cucumbers. I like to use them A LOT. However, I have seen them priced as high as $2.50/each which is ridiculous! So, if you can't find them for $1 or so - then use romaine lettuce to substitute.

The size of the vegetables that you use will create more or less juice, etc. So, if the cucumbers, celery bunches are particularly small then you will need more, etc. :)

Day 1 - morning

- (3) cucumbers
- (3) carrots
- (1/2) bunch of celery
- a little bunch of parsley
- (1) organic lemon
- a pink of Himalayan salt (very important for minerals).

Day 1 - afternoon

- (6) carrots
- (1/2) bunch of celery

- (2) cucumbers
- (1) apple

- (1) lemon
- (1) pinch of Himalayan pink salt.

- (2) cucu
mbers
- (4) big pieces of kale (kale can taste VERY earthy)
- (2) green apples

- big bunch of parsley

Also, you can add cayenne, more lemons to add more taste to any juice! :)

Day 2 - morning

- (3) cucumbers
- (1) romaine lettuce
- (1) bun
ch of celery
- (1) lemon

- (3) carrots
- small bunch of parsley
-
a pink of Himalayan salt

Day 2 - afternoon

- (1) bunch celery
- (2) green apples
- (1) lemon
- (2) cucumbers

* this is VERY tasty - you may want to double the recipe.

Day

- (1/2) bunch of parsley

e
- (2) cukes

(10) celery stalks

- It is tangy and refreshing.

Sugar and Juice-FEASTING, Saturday - May 30th, 2009

SUGAR - If you have a virus or you are very sick, then taking all fruit and the vegetables high in sugar out of your juice feast is important.

However, a carrot is much less than a snickers bar...so have the carrot. :)

There are certain vegetables that have more sugar than others: the top two are carrots and beats.

I like to use GREEN apples a lot when juicing. They are lower in sugar than red apples and they are tasty. Pineapple is very high is sugar - so we will use a minimal amount...

The darker green leafy veggies are the more alkaline. We are going to help your body to be more alkaline this week. The opposite of alkaline is acidic. In acidic bodies, the body naturally stores and holds onto fat.

We will have a greener drink in the morning, a more fruity one in the afternoon and taper off to a less fruity one at night.

Remember, this is a juice FEAST.

You want to drink at least ONE GALLON of juice a day. That is FOUR QUARTS
I like to use mason jars for storage. Generally, you don't want a quart-sized mason jar half-full. This will allow the juice to oxidize and this will kill off enzymes and we want to preserve those and drink them!

During my 33 day Juice-FEAST - I generally drank 4 quarts daily, water and 1-2 Kombuchas. I used THREE recipes a day to make the juice and that is what I will post for you this week. BTW, I am doing it too! :)

OK - here come the recipes.

Fire off questions to me as you review this information because this will help everyone participating!

Juice Feast PREP, Saturday - May 30th, 2009

Hi all,

Here are some overall thoughts and suggestions.
The next posts are the recipes for the week.

The difference between juicing and having a smoothie is that the fiber is taken out. This is one major point and benefit to juicing. Taking the fiber out allows the digestive system to relax, the nutrients/enzymes to be absorbed quickly into the body and it allows the colon to relax and slough off unwanted debris hanging on.

The colon is SUPER important because this is where 60% or more of water and nutrients are absorbed for the body. It sounds odd but it is true. When the colon gets bogged down then we don't absorb as much good stuff. Additionally, beer-belly's are known as toxic build-up in the raw communities. This is your body's effort to move the toxins away from your vital organs. As your colon clears out and things start moving better often times you will notice a nice decrease in the belly area. :)

Sometime during your 7-day juice-feast you may experience a lot of bowel movements or diarrhea or something different than "normal". If this happens, and you are concerned, post your questions or contact me.

Drinking enough water is important while juicing! Many folks forget about the water because of all the juice so I am reminding you of this. :) Drink your water.

Pink Himalayan salt is excellent as a mineral supplement during the juice-feast and for a long time after. You can sprinkle some in your juice and/or your water.

Blue/Green algae is an excellent support to pour a bit into your juice in the morning. The best is E3Live. There is a link in the right column of the blog. Some of you may have an awesome natural food store around you that may carry it. This is not necessary though.

Water and pink himalayan salt are my number 1 and 2 things for this week for you. :)

Nut Milk Bag? Juice-Feast Challenge Answers to Questions! :)

First question is about the nut milk bag.

What is this for?

When you are juicing for a fast or a feast - it is important to take OUT the fiber. This relaxes the digestive system, allows the colon to relax and slough off unwanted stuff hanging on to the insides. A clean colon means that your body can readily absorb nutrients and water back into your body!! YAY! :)

If you have a juicer, awesome - and you won't need to nut milk bag because your juicer extracts the fiber for you already.

If you have a blender, great! Then all you need is a Nut Milk Bag to strain the fiber out.

The nut milk bag is about $8.50.

I haven't ever seen any around in a store before but you can check your local stores or order one via this link or whatever link that you find online.

7 DAY JUICE-FEAST CHALLENGE!! JUNE 1ST-7TH

WHOA!!!!

JUICE-FEAST CHALLENGE!????

Really!!!!

Just in time to get those 5-10 lbs off to jump-start your summer goals!

Maybe you want to SQUEEZE into that bathing suit or just FEEL BETTER?
This is the time!!

June 1st - 7
th, 2009

Please comment below (just at the bottom of this specific) blog-post to let me know if you are "IN".

Right now, what you need to do it is:
1.) Mentally prepare: yes, it's the mind that gets in the way.

2.) Start eating a bit better then you normally may but - for sure - start to cut down on the dairy - that's the most important.
3.) Make sure you have the equipment necessary:
a.) Juicer is ideal. My favorite is th
e Green Star Juicer

b.) If you have a blender, great! Then all you need is a Nut
Milk Bag to strain the fiber out.

c.) If you need a blender and you want a great one, I suggest the VitaMix

How will this work?

It's FREE.

I will post the recipes for the 7 days BEFORE the Juice-FEAST starts. This way you can shop and get ready to go! :)

I am going to spend the next few days figuring out the recipes. So, stay tuned and make the commitment to yourself. WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, I am saying this because I have to: If you participate, you are responsible for your participation, your health responses and possible detoxes, etc. Medical disclaimer below... Ho hum...

Tuesday - May 26th, 2009

Good morning! :)

I still haven't made it to the store since returning from my trip. However, I have been making a mini granola of sorts for breakfast while on my trip and then again today.

(The pictures and names of the ingredients link to a page where you can buy this stuff in case you are interested.)

I have been putting a little bit of whatever granola or bran cereal that is around (organic and healthy) with
Goji berries,

Incan berries and raw cacao nuts.

Sunday - May 24th

Hi all, HOLY COW!!!
It has been two weeks since a blog?!
What's up with that? :)

I was at school for a week in Napa, CA.
It's a remote and lovely valley.

I ate food. I ate a bit more food then I thought but all is well and the food rocks there. ;) Lovely salads, fruit,, veggies of all kinds.

Today, I juiced. I couldn't find my camera to snap the shot.
It was watermelon, 2 sad looking bunches of celery and 2 well-done lemons. ;) It takes me a few days to get back on track after traveling so hopefully Tuesday - I will start writing regularly again.

The blog will continue and then morph into my new web site which will hopefully be completed the end of June...stay tuned! :)

At the moment, I am considering juicing one-week every month. Juicing one day a week is also very common. So, I will figure this out and update you promptly.

Have a lovely holiday weekend, Pauline

New Picture! :) - May 11th, 2009

Hi all, :)

Here is a new and updated shot of me after the juice-FEAST...just taken today!

Thank you, Monaica for the great s
hots today. :)
Check out Monaica at www.SheBuildsEmpires.com

She ROCKS!!!

OK, I am getting back to juicing today. I kinda went off the deep-end in certain ways by testing what I can eat and how I am doing. What I have found is that no matter how great the food is...I just can't eat it all!! YAY!! This is so good for me because I have a habit of eating more than I need to - particularly when the food rocks (and even when it doesn't). This is a definite result of juice-FEASTING and allowing the digestive system to relax and the stomach to shrink. My goal is to stop when I am full!

This morning started with a glass of carrot juice.
I just love this first thing in the morning.
Again, it is so filling and tasty...
like a glass of sunshine.

My next juice for the day was
watermelon,
(1) bunch of celery and
(1) lemon

This is tasty, wonderful and refreshing.

I fill one pint, cap it and put it in the refrigerator. It is best if you are saving a juice for later that you fill the container so that the juice does not mix with oxygen. This keeps the juice fresh.

Have a super night, Pauline :)

I have been hosting an event this week so tardy on my pics, recipes and announcements.

Overall, food has been going down pretty well. I feel that I will juice more next week prior to leaving town on Friday, May 15th. :)

I will update you on all,
Pauline :)

Update #2 on May 5th, 2009 - before and after pictures

This fruit is so pretty in this lovely green bowl! :)

It is really nice to put fruit or veggies together because it just looks beautiful, nice and fresh. An inviting bowl is a helpful way to make the best choices regarding what you eat.
Just a thought...

I am now d

I bet you thought that they were of me! Nope!
Let's focus on the juice. :)

This yummy juice is
(3) cucumbers,
(1) bunch celery,
(1) lemon and
I added more
carrots to this,
maybe (10).

This next duo is.......

(2) cucumbers,
(1) lime,
(10) stalks

The final before and after pictures are...

I hope that you enjoyed them.

Tomorrow is my official weigh in for a completion of 35 days in the world of juicing! And, I will post before and after pictures of myself when I have another good opportunity to have a photo shoot in front of the organic veggies!! Sara, I need you!!! ;) I am back in my size 10 jeans and they fit me well. I haven't worn this pair quite this comfortably in about two years. It feels nice and more like me...

Over and out, p
